WHAT TO WEAR: Interviews

Let’s face it, job interviews can be stressful. You’ve researched the company over and over again and you’ve spell-checked your resume more times than you’ve gone to Sephora this month (FYI, that’s a lot). The interview is coming up this week and your pep talk sounds a little bit like this: “You can do this. Go in there, ace this interview and stand out from the crowd.”

Making a great first impression is key during an interview and it may not be as difficult as it seems. Knowing as much information as possible about the company and position you are interviewing for is vital, but your appearance is also a very crucial part of this process. Whether you like it or not, as soon as you walk into that office, portfolio under your outstretched arm, ready to shake hands with your future boss, they are sizing you up and instantly forming an impression that will last the interview and beyond. These types of first impressions are usually based on your appearance and demeanor. So that means it’s super important that you wear an outfit and have a positive attitude that screams “hire me!”

I saw this Fashionista and she looked as though she was ready to take on one intense interview. She was wearing a white chiffon tank top and an orange cardigan that paired perfectly with black pants and amazing color-block flats with gold accents on them. Her accessories were chosen because of the meaning behind each piece, hoping that they would send her good vibes and energy for her interview, which I thought was really neat. Her earrings have Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom on them, she has Mala beads draped over her neck because they keep her calm and her bracelet was handmade with tibetan beads and gifted to her by one of her close friends.

Yes, interviewing for the “job of your dreams” is slightly scary, but with a flawless outfit it will give you all the confidence you need to get out there and show them what you’re made of! Because remember, when you look good, you feel good.

One Simple Change: So you got the job? This calls for a celebration! Lose the cardigan to show off your shoulders, swap the flats for ankle boots and you’re ready for celebratory drinks at the local tapas bar down the street. Cheers!
