WHAT TO WEAR: Class Is In Session

Slushy, cold, gray, and gloomy—those would be the four words I would use to describe Pittsburgh during the months of January through mid-March. Not exactly the words that would come to mind when you think “spring semester” right? With these weather conditions in mind, I must tell you, it was no easy task to find somebody nicely dressed in the heart of downtown for this article. (If I’m being honest, during this time of year I generally just stick with my parka, sweater, jeans and boots combo). However, recently I lucked out and though the weather here in the ‘Burgh was still a bit gray and gloomy, it was at least a whole whopping fifty degrees over New Year’s, meaning everyone was shedding their coats and enjoying the unseasonably warm weather. During one of those fifty degree days, I took to downtown to do a photo shoot for my own blog and was fortunate enough to stumble upon the fabulously dressed Fashionista appearing in this article!

This fresh-faced Fashionista looked primped and one hundred percent ready to take on the spring semester. As you can see, this Fashionista’s sense of layering is absolutely flawless. Though it was much too warm for a traditional winter coat, this traditional cable knit sweater and white blouse combination is perfect for keeping warm on a cool day without making this outfit look bulky. And speaking of the sweater and blouse combination, the main thing I just adored about this Fashionista’s outfit was her attention to detail. As I’m sure you noticed, the collar of her blouse is perfectly placed over the round neck of her sweater, and to add an extra bit of shine to this casual back-to-school outfit, she added a gorgeous statement necklace which gave the top half of this outfit a polished finish. Lastly, to complete this classic back-to-school outfit, this Fashionista paired her spring semester essentials with some classic skinny jeans and black knee-high boots.

So, note, even in the cold months ahead it’s still possible to be stylish. Whether you luck out and get to dress for a heat wave, or even if you have to bundle for the cold. Just remember that through layering and accessorizing, even the simplest of outfits can look incredibly chic. And if you don’t want to take it from me, use the photos of the Fashionista above as proof!
