If you attend college at an NYC CUNY or SUNY school, then today would officially be your first day of spring semester classes! Happy first day back!
For me, what’s most crucial about the first day back isn’t even the first day… more like the night before. Let’s be real here, I’m not the only one that has a mini panic attack when it’s 11:48 at night and magically realize that I have an 8 a.m. class and have not a single clue what to wear. That’s when the midnight meltdown begins; you try on several different outfits and toss everything on the floor, and hope that at least one friend is awake to open the snap of your proposed ootd.
This fashionista over here pulled no all nighter in order to pull this look together effortlessly. She paired a faux fur navy jacket, with a beautifully detailed shirt, riding boots, and a nylon backpack to stash all her school stuff . It was super simple, nothing over the top, and absolutely perfect for a first day back look.
Coming from the city, black is our unofficial uniform. What I loved most about this look was how the floral detailing from the top added a nice spruce of color to the dark ensemble. Looking at the floral details was a relieving reminder that spring will soon be here in due time. Also, the polka dot print and the tulle bell sleeves added a whimsical touch.
To recreate a similar look, you can find the jacket, boots, top, and backpack all here.
Here’s to a great and stylish semester!
