Guys, winter is here. I repeat, winter is here! I don’t know if you’re as excited as I am, but, (in my humble opinion, of course), you should be! As a city girl living in Minnesota, I was a little disappointed that our snowy winter weather came a bit late this year. Now that it’s here, I am so excited to break out my winter coats, boots and accessories!
My favorite year-round accessories are scarves. They’re so versatile, with various styles, colors and patterns! Plus, they can usually be dressed up and dressed down, making them great for pretty much any occasion… a Fashionista’s dream! This season, I wanted to mix up my usual winter look a bit, but I couldn’t part with my beloved scarves. So, I ended up with the scarf’s closest relative: the snood! I purchased this snood for various reasons—mainly because I wanted something different but similar to my favorite winter accessory, and because the fur just screamed glam. To style my new winter gem, I looked to the A.W.A.K.E. fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection.
Seeing as I’m really into neutrals and the all-black look, this collection suits me well. Its fabulous use of neutral colors and fur accents makes for perfectly festive fashion. Many of the looks in this collection feature tan hues, long coats and hints of fur, so I tried to incorporate these into my winter outfit here. My neutral-hued socks, coat and snood follow the collection’s main color scheme, while my black rain boots and sweater incorporate the black shown in other looks throughout the collection. Additionally, my snood provides the fur aspect and acts as the statement piece in my look! I decided on jeans, instead of the skirts shown in the collection, to add a personal touch.
Small details bring this look together. I made sure the black edges of my sleeves were peeking out of my jacket sleeves for a chic, carefree appearance. The small fishtail braid in my hair also adds a cute, snow-appropriate detail! Finally, a half-tuck on my shirt pulls the black outfit base together.
If you’re looking for the perfect addition to your winter wardrobe this season, my advice is to go for a snood. Their large size provides warmth, while any extra details (like the color, fabric, or FUR!) provide an extra bit of stylishness to your winter wonderland look.
