Having a perfect balance between masculine and feminine or tough and soft in your wardrobe can be tricky business. Incorporating the right amount of menswear or sportswear while still maintaining a bit of femininity can be an arduous task. That’s exactly what the Banana Republic spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection is all about. With mixes of blush, gray and denim, their collection brought together rugged and dainty styles. They ditched their typically minimalistic feminine style and were able to complement their softer pieces with heavier and more pragmatic touches, giving their spring ready-to-wear collection a little bit of edge.
Having that perfect balance between feminine and masculine pieces in my closet is something I strive for. Although it can be difficult, I believe I nail it here in this ensemble. I put on a classic striped T-shirt, which has slits up the sides to give the shirt a little pizzazz. I paired it with a pair of Topshop boyfriend jeans, which in my opinion, are a must-have, to represent the menswear aspect. I threw on a floral statement necklace to represent the feminine side of the outfit, giving it a girly touch. To pull this look together, I slipped on my all-time favorite Steve Madden shoes to throw in some sportswear. I wear these shoes everywhere! They are both comfortable and chic; I can wear them with everything in my closet, and they give any outfit a more casual vibe. This outfit is my go-to whenever I am running late. Just throw on some boyfriend jeans, which by the way, do not require an actual boyfriend, and a T-shirt and I am out the door.
This outfit, if given a little bit more spice, could be thrown into the Banana Republic spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. I love pairing masculine and feminine pieces together, which is what Banana Republic did, and that is why I fell in love with their collection. I took their aesthetic and put my own style twist on it. It has both soft, tough and sporty sides to it that complement each other, while still being tasteful.
