STYLE GURU STYLE: Think Pink

Back in 2014, I became addicted to a reality show called House of DVF. It centered on Fashionistas from around the country coming together to compete for the ultimate dream job: the global brand ambassador for Diane von Furstenburg. This show gave me an insider’s view into her work and really started my appreciation for her beautiful designs.

Fast forward almost a year later, and I’m still amazed by the creations this legendary designer has to offer. I’ve learned that it’s almost an unspoken rule that if you’re going to own anything from Diane von Furstenburg, you need to start with her famous wrap dress. Though I have yet to purchase from the designer myself, I have been inspired to make my own version from her resort 2016 collection.

My favorite thing about this collection is the pink handbag the models are displaying. No matter the outfit, she incorporated a pop of color that cannot be ignored. That was the element I decided to start with. I found a perfect and cheaper alternative with a pink wallet from Target. By removing the hand strap, I was able to turn it into an adorable clutch.

We all know that black will never go out of style, which is why this collection is timeless. I paired my black skater skirt with black tights and black heels to keep the focus solely on the clutch. I also wanted to keep the outfit as feminine and classy as possible, so I wore a white blouse with a black bow collar.

I didn’t want to go heavy with makeup either, but I knew a fun lip color would do the trick. I matched my clutch by using a bright pink lipstick to finish off the look.

This outfit pulled together nicely and the clutch was a major conversation starter. A pop of color is always a good idea!

Get My Look: 1. Pink clutch. 2. Sheer blouse. 3. Skater skirt.
