STYLE GURU STYLE: Thigh-highs

GUYS. It’s finally spring! (Not according to New York, though). And nothing gets a Fashionista/o out of their winter-funk quite like spring fashion. Unfortunately, it is the return of leg shaving season (which I’m a little bitter about), but whatever; it’s worth it to show off a little leg.

Just ask Rihanna what the hottest accessory is for spring: skin. Gracing the runway at Fenty x Puma, was edgy, grunge streetwear, featuring lace-up tops, dresses and pants, mild nudity, thigh-high boots and some side boob action. This line gave me so much inspiration for stepping out of my comfort zone this spring.

When putting together an outfit, I like to focus on one really edgy item and work around it. And it’s always nice when fall’s hottest trend translates into spring. Yep, I’m talking about thigh-highs. I can’t get enough of them. Throw on a pair of thigh-high boots and watch your outfit instantly get spicy. Oh and hey legs, how we’ve missed you. I love the idea of skin as an accessory to an outfit, and now that the weather is finally cooperating, we can show a little more and kill the fashion game.

If I had to categorize my street style look, I’d say its part western, part grunge-chic. I’m obsessed with all-black outfits with a pop of color, so I paired a laced-up top with my favorite lightweight leather jacket, distressed Levi cut-offs, olive green thigh-high heeled boots, a thin black belt and a choker. I felt like such a badass strutting this get up around town.

Surprise yourself this spring, and step out of your fashion comfort zone!

Get my look: 1. Leather jacket. 2. Lace-up top. 3. Thigh-high boots.
