STYLE GURU STYLE: That ‘70s Trend

Flared pants and prints seem to be an ongoing trend on the runway lately. Many designers are showing previous decade-inspired looks within their collections, and I am personally obsessed!

Here, I am wearing a look inspired by Emilio Pucci’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. This 1970s-inspired collection shows a lot of high-waisted, bell-bottom pants which include lots of bold colors and many retro prints. His collection shows plenty of fringe, hippie beading and gossamer goddess gowns, but what I am most interested in is the shape of pants that is coming back into style.

I translated this runway trend into my own everyday look. I dressed down my ‘70s-inspired pants with flip flops and an open back tank top, making this an outfit that could be worn to class, a lunch date or just shopping with friends. I even added some of my own personal style with this body chain, which happens to be another one of my favorite summer trends. I personally love this look because it is extremely comfortable as the light, breathable fabric of the pants makes them perfect for the summertime heat. Another plus is that these flare pants are generally longer in length, making them a perfect fit for taller girls like myself. The pants can be paired with almost any type of shirt including a tight crop top or a free flowing tank top. I also love that this trend adds some color to my usually all-black wardrobe.

Get My Look: 1. An open back tank top. 2. Flared pants. 3. A body chain.
