STYLE GURU STYLE: Sweater Weather

The best thing about fall besides the temperature finally cooling off after a dreadfully hot summer are the clothes that make there way from the depths of your closet out into the light. The scarves, the sweaters, but especially the booties. ‘Tis the season of lots of layers and pumpkin flavored drinks.

Monochromatic is not a new trend, but it is one that is seen in every season, regardless of the time of year. It is a classic that can be revamped and re-imagined to fit the emerging trends. alice + olivia’s show brought a strong monochromatic presentation to the spring shows. The designs were inspired by the desert; the hues were ranging from bright orange to a collection of solely black and white. alice + olivia decided to weave a bohemian flare into the designs with embroidered pieces and eccentric patterns. The collection is meant to create a goddess vibe with the flowing gowns and tops.

I toned down the bright colors and patterns, to suit my style, but I took elements from the collection to create my look. I decided on a loose, striped sweater to implement the monochromatic element of the alice + olivia show. My necklace is how I included alice + olivia’s bohemian style into my daily look. To add my personal touch to the outfit, I wear my go-to kate spade cross-body bag and create a pop of color with red lipstick. To really get into the fall spirit, I break out my favorite shoes for the season: my new booties.

Get My Look: 1. A monochromatic sweater. 2. A pair of booties. 3. A bohemian necklace.
