STYLE GURU STYLE: Spring Fever

Spring is finally here and it was well worth the wait! Springtime is one of my favorite times of year. The weather is nice, the birds are chirping and spring joy is in the air. But the main reason why I love spring so much is because it is perfect midi-length skirt weather and I am obsessed with midi skirts. That is probably why I loved the Jayson Brunsdon spring 2015 runway show so much. Full of its great feminine patterned midi skirts and tulle skirts paired with basic black, its elegance is perfect to satisfy some spring fever.

Although all of the looks greatly influenced my outfit, I really enjoyed look 19. I loved the basic black top paired with the patterned midi and complemented with simple black shoes and a fun lip color. I borrowed these great styling tips and applied them to my own look. I chose to start with a basic black Michael Kors T-shirt. I tucked it into one of my favorite new additions to my spring wardrobe, a bright red midi skirt with a fun frog pattern! It’s super fun, cheerful and even has hidden pockets, which I love! Since the weather hasn’t quite hit spring temperatures here in chilly ol’ Canada, I threw on some black tights with a subtle diamond pattern and paired some basic, comfortable black heels with the look. I love these heels because they match everything and are the most comfortable heels I’ve ever owned! They are just high enough without being difficult to walk in or hurtful. I also added a fun red lip that is colorful without being too bold, as my skirt and hat are very bold themselves.

To add my own personal touches; I added a statement red, wide brimmed hat and my attempt at a Carrie purse (As in Carrie from The Carrie Diaries or Sex in the City). To make the Carrie purse, I picked up a great black bag and splattered nail polish on the front then wrote my name across it, just as Carrie did in The Carrie Diaries.

Get My Look: 1. A black top. 2. A fun midi skirt. 3. Black heels.
