STYLE GURU STYLE: So Tropical

One look at the Nicole Miller spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection and you’ll undoubtedly be able to feel the “I don’t want summer to end” pang in your stomach. The collection was filled (filled is probably an understatement) with oh-so tropical prints that blended beautifully with the black, white and nude hues and whimsical patterns that dictated the runway. Just watching the show simply transported you to a hammock under a palm tree on a lonely beach somewhere far, far away and frankly, I don’t think there’s a single person out there who’d be able to find anything wrong with this.

Feeling inspired by the collection and desperately trying to find a way to cling on to summer (please don’t leave us), I found a way to include the tropical print trend in an outfit that represented both my style and mood of the day. I chose to wear a sheer high-neck shirt with a bold tropical print and bright colors on the front with my favorite pair of leather shorts to glam the look up and give it some edge. As I wanted to keep the outfit more casual, fun and summer-y, I wore a simple pair of black KORS Michael Kors flip flops and picked up my black Stella McCartney purse that I am—yes, I will use the following term so feel free to judge—infatuated with. As for accessories, I kept things basic by just sticking to my usual bracelets, adding a few rhinestone embellished black rings, a black hat and a pair of Henri Bendel cat-eye sunglasses to block the cray cray sun out.

And there you have it: an outfit that is fully inspired by the gorgeous Nicole Miller spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection and that has, in all honesty, become one of my favorite summer looks.
