STYLE GURU STYLE: So Not Over It

I am sure that at one point in every young girl’s life she owned and wore a pair of traditional overalls; that is, until she hit her teens when she swore off them altogether. If that doesn’t sound like your story, well, it sure is mine and a few others. I thought I would never wear another pair of overalls even if my life depended on it, until I saw the modish Chloé fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection and I completely altered my perspective on this fashion item. So now you can say I am proudly obsessed (and with good reason) with the trendy appeal of overalls.

The Chloé collection had a ‘70s theme that I completely and shamelessly drooled over. I loved the sophisticated appearance of the tailored trousers, structured statement jackets and feminine blouses, but it was a beautiful pair of mauve corduroy overalls that especially caught my eye. The overalls had an apparent ‘70s-inspired flare to them and were paired with a flowing off-white shirt and scarf for a dressier vibe. All in all, this entire outfit had me desperately wishing for my own pair of overalls.

I decided to replace the corduroy overalls that the model is wearing with a pair of classic denim ones, because who doesn’t love denim? This more casual material is perfect for summer days and can easily transform into your autumn attire when the weather cools off. I matched the overalls with an equally white classic T-shirt and completed the attire with a pair of neutral-colored booties. I kept my attire free of any accessories to keep the focus on the fashionable statement that the overalls gave off.

With a chic pair of overalls, you have no excuse whatsoever for a lack of confidence when wearing them. So, the bottom line is: I’m not over overalls, am I?

Get My Look: 1. A pair of trendy denim overalls. 2. A white T-shirt. 3. Neutral-colored booties.
