STYLE GURU STYLE: Prints and Patterns

For a long time, all I would wear would be black and gray, denim and solids. For a while that was okay, but when prints and colors came back even more than usual, I loved the looks too much to pass it up. When I came across the alice + olivia spring 2015 ready-to-wear show, I loved the color and print combinations, and that is when I decided this summer to embrace the colors!

What I love about this collection is how everything flows together without looking like too much is going on at one time. The dresses have every color you can imagine in floral prints, and they are beautiful and perfect for the summer. Another piece that caught my eye were the short sets; they had color pairings that I would have never thought would go together until I saw them in the collection. Altogether, alice + olivia didn’t disappoint, and I can thank the show for getting me out of my color rut.

Trying to embrace the prints, I found this Free People sundress that is great for almost any occasion! The long sleeves may look a little warm for the weather, but the material is light enough that it doesn’t get too hot. Also, the dress has part of the back cut out which creates a day to night effect. I paired the dress with nude gladiator sandals to complete the boho look and a leather bag to bring out the colors in the dress. A great thing about this dress is when the summer ends and the fall weather approaches, I can slip on a pair of jeans and booties with the top and have another great look.

Get My Look: 1. A sundress. 2. A pair of sandals. 3. A leather bag.
