STYLE GURU STYLE: Pretty Patterns

I love patterns. The designs are intriguing and tend to catch the eye of someone walking past. My fellow DFW, Texas born Nicole Miller’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection was filled with incredible patterns and prints, in addition to being inspired by mythic arts illustrations. “Miller likes to mix up prints, and much of the runway was dedicated to the act.” Miller’s show inspired this Style Guru look.

After seeing this show, I wanted to take my own spin on this collection for a night out with my friends before summer ended. I found a Show Me Your MuMu top I had in my closet that gave the same feel as the patterns/prints in Miller’s collection. Show Me Your MuMu has beautiful patterns that are colorful and come in a variety of designs.

I layered the top with a solid black, Free People slip underneath as this lengthens the top, allowing someone to wear it as a dress. I have a bunch of these seamless slips from Free People in different colors. They are great to throw under a piece to lengthen an outfit or for extra coverage under a sheer article of clothing.

I paired this outfit with my new favorite wedges, which are the Olivia Wedges by Jeffery Campbell for Free People, bringing together two of my favorite brands. These black, soft leather, open toe wedges have an elastic back with a wood wedge heel. They are extremely comfortable and I can wear them for a full night without hurting my feet or falling on my face.

Get My Look: 1. Patterned top/dress. 2. Black slip. 3. A pair of rockin’ wedges.
