STYLE GURU STYLE: Pastels And Sneakers

Although I usually stay true to black clothing, rain or shine, I found myself choosing lighter colors since it warmed up here in San Diego. So when I saw the Balenciaga 2016 resort collection and its beautiful pastel shades and monochrome looks, I knew drawing inspiration from it would be right up my alley.

My outfit is super relaxed and casual but not sloppy. I channeled the collection’s cream and blush tones through my Brandy Melville crop top and Puma sneakers. The crop top has floral lining on the neckline and sleeves, creating juxtaposition with an otherwise plain top. I secured the top with a knot and to show off my bottoms. I continued the trend of lighter shades with light wash high-waisted denim pants from Garage Clothing. The baby blue wash of the pants adds that bit of color but maintains a super laid back vibe. These pants are super comfortable and make your legs look miles long. What’s not to love?

The pastel colors work beautifully together and create a very unique and lighthearted look. My favorite part would definitely have to be the sneakers. Sneakers have always been a staple in any wardrobe, but they are definitely the trendy shoe of the moment. They also happen to be the most comfortable, so take advantage of its extra cool factor while you can. The featured pair is neutral with pastel pink detailing and laces. As a student of a university with a huge campus, I try to avoid heels whenever I can, and these shoes are the perfect go-to for when I want to add that sweet finish to my outfit and stay comfortable.

Lighten your look and maybe it’ll lighten your mood. It might be hard, but try avoiding those darker colors for the rest of summer. We have plenty of time to rock burgundy and navy when fall rolls around. So soak up the sun and work those pastels.

Get My Look: 1. Cream top. 2. Light wash pants. 3. Neutral/pastel sneakers.
