STYLE GURU STYLE: Mixed Media

In the winter months, when it’s freezing cold, it can be hard to keep your look stylish. You have to wear layer on top of layer to keep warm, and at some point you end up feeling like a marshmallow. A cool scarf is the perfect accessory to use when it comes to completing your outfit. There are tons of fabrics, colors, and prints to choose from. Adding the right accessory can pull everything you’re wearing together and keep you on trend.

Like I mentioned in my Style Guru Bio, I love to layer. For this look, I paired my denim Levi’s jacket with distressed black jeans. These jeans are my absolute favorite right now. The dark color goes with everything, while the raw-cut hemline makes them trendy. My Rebecca Minkoff crossbody also looks great with every outfit I pull together, and the rose gold hardware really makes it pop. I added a green and blue furry puff for some winter fun and finished off my outfit with an oversize knit scarf and animal print booties.

If you haven’t already noticed, I may have an obsession with animal print shoes. In my last post, I was wearing a funky pair of snakeskin booties. These black and white pony hair booties are a bit more casual, but can definitely be dressed up if wanted. I love adding a statement piece when choosing my outfit for the day, and these booties almost always make the cut. The simple design makes them easy to pair with different colors and patterns. I think they mix really well with this super warm oversize scarf. The two pieces have similar hues, but the bright orange in the scarf really complements the shoes. Even though the temperature happened to be freezing on this day, the sun was crazy bright, so I threw on my classic club masters after stepping outside.

Don’t be afraid and try something new—mix and match different patterns or contrasting colors when creating your next outfit!
