STYLE GURU STYLE: Military Marks

Runway shows are in a constant effort to keep things interesting. Recently, Marc Jacobs took a revolutionary step. Collaborating with Beats by Dre for his spring 2015 ready-to-wear show, Jacobs did something never done before. Showgoers wore Beats headphones in order to hear the vocal narration. The purpose of this was to give each individual a unique experience. Being a music lover as much as a fashion lover, this innovative approach to a runway show really caught my attention.

With that being said, what I really took away from the show was his military-inspired line. I set out to take this military theme and use it in an everyday summer outfit. Although my look is very different from those on the runway, it was the military vibe that I wanted to capture. As I created my outfit, I incorporated other styles and trends for a unique look.

My mind set was to create a casual outfit that can be worn any day this season. I started with green cargo pants. I chose a plain tank top to keep things simple The tied sweater and color palette makes this look somewhat preppy. I accessorized the outfit with simple silver jewelry and a hairstyle that is very trendy right now. This half up half down hairstyle is so easy to do, but can still polish off nearly any look. I opted for booties instead of sandals, to complete the military vibe.

Get My Look: 1. Cargo pants. 2. Plain tank top. 3. Tan booties. 4. Open knit sweater.
