When the weather is warm, I love to experiment with different colors and patterns. Orange is not a color I feel confident in, but when I saw this maxi dress, I knew I had to give it a try. As soon as I put it on, I instantly fell in love. It reminded me of the alice + olivia pre-fall 2015 fashion show collection. All of the colors and patterns in their collection gave me the inspiration to try new things, and it sure did pay off.
This collection had a black base to a lot of the dresses and skirts, but I decided to put my own twist on it and had orange as my base color. My maxi dress definitely has a lot of pattern in it and is very colorful. All of the colors blend together well to create a nice balance. I tied up the dress to give it a little bit of a personal touch. I love maxi dresses because they are so versatile—you can dress them up or down. Also, they are so easy to throw on when you aren’t sure what to wear one day.
With my dress, I decided to wear my tan GUESS sandals, which are my favorite summer shoes. Not only are they super comfortable, but they also match with almost everything. I also threw on my jean jacket, which was perfect for the breezy weather in the Hudson Valley. To accessorize, I wore a peach statement necklace that matched the different colors in my dress. I also had on a simple ring, bracelet and watch that all matched the gold outlining of my necklace.
Overall, the alice + olivia pre-fall 2015 fashion show collection really inspired me to step out of my comfort zone with my color palette. I’m really glad I tried this, and I’m excited to keep experimenting throughout the summer!
