STYLE GURU STYLE: Layers On Layers

The runway show from BCBGMAXAZRIA was amazing; the neutral colors of each ensemble made me fall in love right away. With all the snow and freezing temperatures throughout the northeast lately, this collection is the perfect fit. The designer Lubov Azria said that the key to surviving winter is to “layer, layer, layer.” This is perfect for right now with all the snow. All throughout the collection there are tunics and ponchos. There were also lace-up details, unique embellishments and a great deal of patchwork. Even fur and leather made it into some of the looks. What made me love the designs were the neutral colors. I love wearing neutrals and then adding a pop of color.

So I decided to try out my own look inspired by all the pieces I saw. I have a gray poncho that I paired with a long sleeve white T-shirt. I then chose a pair of black leggings with leather trimming down the side to incorporate the clean look. I also added a fur scarf to accessorize and to help me stay warm. Then I chose black boots to finish off the outfit.

This pre-fall 2015 show inspired me on how to layer and still look great. The result, as I had originally thought, is not boring. On the plus, it keeps me warm. I am definitely going to remember this trend for when fall and winter come around next year.

Get My Look: 1. A poncho 2. Fur scarf. 3. Leather leggings.
