STYLE GURU STYLE: Layer It Up!

Fall has fallen. The leaves have hit the ground, and now, the only way to get through the day is by layering on the clothing. The weather here is pretty contrary. It just can’t seem to make up its mind about being mildly warm or quite brisk. When it decides to add a breeze, forget about it!

It can be especially chilly in the morning. This is great for me because it is a perfect excuse to throw on a scarf to complete any look that I’ve got going on for the day. As I’ve mentioned previously, scarves are a weakness of mine, along with comfy sweaters. The sweater that I’m sporting today is extremely soft. I love the pale color with a very faint grey pattern to add a bit of interest. I actually found this sweater while I was studying abroad last semester, and it immediately became a favorite.

I’ve paired the sweater with plain black high-rise American Eagle Outfitters jeggings and black ankle boots. Jeggings are a perfect option for a school day because they are comfortable, but still look put together. The high-rise also works well with this particular sweater because it is fitted and stops pretty high on the torso. The faux leather jacket and scarf add warmth for walking to and from classes and meetings. I personally love the classic pattern of the scarf and the fact that it isn’t super bulky. The leather and zipper details on the jacket contrast with the overall soft feel of the rest of the outfit and helps to vary the texture.

The wallet is more of a necessity, but I am in love with how simple it is. I had to switch it up from my older Vera Bradley one. This wallet goes with me everywhere! Something basic is great for students because we need to carry our keys and student I.D. with us everywhere that we go.

No matter what sweater you decide to pull on, be sure to have fun with the layers. Whether it is a scarf or a necklace, a leather or army jacket, switch up those textures! Keep it simple like me or add your own twist with pops of color and patterns. Layering is not a science!
