STYLE GURU STYLE: It’s Turtleneck Season!

It’s turtleneck season here in New York City. The majority of us New Yorkers are counting down the weeks until April 1 when the weather gets nice and warm. With Groundhog Day only days away, we are on edge and waiting to see if the groundhog sees his shadow thus predicting whether we have six more weeks of winter. In the meantime turtlenecks are our best friend.

I have always struggled with winter wear. Whenever I wanted to wear something cute, my mom would tell me to throw on my huge red puffer coat over my amazing outfit so that i would be fully protected from the cold. I was always embarrassed of it because red really isn’t my color, and it made me look huge. However, I found found a bold, minimalistic look that is perfect for the New York winter weather.

I call this look “gray hibernation,” symbolizing my much needed hibernation and protection from the cold weather while still keeping a nice gray aesthetic. This look incorporates 50  shades of gray. Well, maybe not 50 but a good amount. The stars of the show include my light gray turtleneck, dark gray fedora, gray socks, and duster coat. I paired my turtleneck with my light gray duster coat from Forever 21. I chose to spice up the look up with another shade of gray, which is seen on my wool brim fedora. For the bottom half of the look, I threw on a simple pair of black jeans. For footwear, I added my gray knit Fila socks, paired with some black lace ups shoes. I love this look because it allows me to still look cute and stay warm. Hope you guys enjoyed this cool creative look. Spring is coming but in the meantime, be safe and stay warm!
