STYLE GURU STYLE: Great Gatsby Glam NYE

After a long and grueling fall semester, it’s time to ditch your textbooks and celebrate! What better time to do so than on New Years Eve? Before the clock strikes 12, celebrate all of your 2016 accomplishments and look forward to a new year filled with success, adventure and fashion. NYE style has got to be my favorite. Glitzy and glamorous, if I could, I would dress like it’s NYE everyday. If you need NYE fashion inspiration and an excuse to watch a movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio (but really, who needs an excuse?), look no further than The Great Gatsby. These 1920s ensembles are pure magic and prove that one can never overdo it with sparkle.

For my NYE ensemble I decided to combine some of my favorite pieces to make my own Fashionista twist on Great Gatsby Glam. Accessories play a huge factor in achieving a 1920s look, so this Henri Bendel starlight crystal headband was a no-brainer. It delicately adds some sparkle to the top of my ensemble so that I can truly shimmer from head to toe. I am obsessed with chokers, therefore, I had to add this Free People rock steady choker to my look. This antique silver and turquoise ring from Metal of Pearl gives a pop of color while still complimenting my ensemble. My 1920s inspired vintage diamond earrings and statement necklace add to the illusion that I am dripping in jewels.

For years, velvet has been considered a “holiday fabric,” but thankfully it has been finding its way into Fashionistas/o’s everyday ensembles. Velvet is comfortable and easy to dance in, making it is quintessential for NYE. This black stretch velvet midi slip dress by Sunset & Spring elegantly fits in with Great Gatsby Glam attire. I decided to use this black fur scarf as a one shoulder fur stole to stick with the 1920s influence and because I love its distinct look. These black suede Stuart Weitzman heels are perfect for dancing into the New Year. Rebecca Minkoff is a genius and her Julep sequin jacket is absolutely insane, it is the perfect accessory for NYE. I love how it can go from cream to silver or even a mixture of both. This Chanel silver filigree flap bag is to die for. It truly makes a statement and embraces my silver palette perfectly.

Whether you’re staying in, going out or even making your way to the ball drop in Times Square, make sure your New Years Eve ensemble sparkles and shines bright into the new year!
