STYLE GURU STYLE: Full House of Denim

It’s not new news to any Fashionisto/a that the ’90s have been back for a while and now bigger than ever. Kenzo’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection is proof of this thriving trend. Think of DJ Tanner from Full House meets high fashion elegance.

Kenzo keeps his looks simple in the collection. This collection incorporates a large amount of pale blue denim and different, oversized silhouettes—both of which were a large part of ’90s fashion. Pale denim is great for incorporating into casual outfits. It can be seen as a neutral color that could match most any color or clothing item. Loose, less structured pieces also help add to make your look more easy going and fashionably casual.

From Kenzo’s collection, I was especially inspired by the large, oversized denim shirts, paired with a long, flowing dress underneath. I attempted to adapt this runway look to my own everyday, style. I found my dad’s old chambray button-down in the bottom of my closet recently. I used to wear this as a dress/shirt paired with black leggings all the time in high school. This time I paired this shirt with a lace trimmed, floral dress to fit my everyday, student life. I added simple accessories, such as a delicate sliver necklace and small hoop earrings to keep the focus of the look on the clothing pieces. My woven sandals are also vintage as to add to the (throwback), casual look.

Get My Look: 1. Oversized denim shirt. 2. A lace trimmed dress or skirt. 3. Laid back, woven shoes.
