STYLE GURU STYLE: Fresh Florals

Dolce&Gabbana’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection rocks. This line was an ode to mothers, and the collection was filled with fun florals, vibrant colors and flattering silhouettes. Many of the models even walked with their own kids, adding such an adorable touch to the runway shows. The collection was mostly dresses, a large portion of which were plain colors with large textured flowers adding the perfect touch of flair. Since I’m a sucker for florals, I knew I instantly needed to recreate this collection from my own wardrobe.

My black floral dress has become a new favorite. Since it has a fairly simple color scheme, it’s easy to pair accessories with it. Black is my go-to color, though, so I had to keep the look dark at the same time (though my cat’s hair covered it by the end of the day, making it a bit lighter). My tights are perfect for adding a bit of warmth while keeping the look from looking too frumpy. Plus, sheer tights are a bit more exciting than opaque back tights. My black booties have become my favorite, and I can’t stop wearing them. The platform makes them so comfortable for walking, and their patent leather look is super sleek.

My fuzzy black sweater is great for the transition from winter to spring, since it’s actually pretty warm. The texture also adds a little pizazz to the whole outfit, and keeps it exciting. The back of this dress has a cute criss-cross, which is a special detail to show off. However, since it’s still a bit chilly, and the sweater covers the back anyway, I opted for a comfortable lace bralette.

If you’ve been drooling over this collection all month and were looking for a way to create it yourself, you and I are one in the same. While Dolce&Gabbana isn’t a go-to designer for an average college student, similar pieces can be found in your favorite stores. Think floral patterns, but not overwhelming whatsoever and still very chic.
