STYLE GURU STYLE: Floral Fanatic

It’s not too often I get to wear something that once belonged to my mom. This is not only because our styles are vastly different, but also because I could fit about two of her in one pair of my jeans. When my mom gave me her old floral dresses, I couldn’t wait until the appropriate season to wear them. Now I take any chance I can to wear the little sundresses because of their unique style and story. When I saw the Blumarine resort 2016 collection, I knew my mom’s dresses would fit right into the designer’s mood board.

Blumarine’s whimsical and dramatic collection was so inspiring for the summer season, especially the major vacation month of August. With flowing sundresses, bright florals, sexy lace and stunning pastels, the line captured the femininity associated with summer womenswear.

I was so excited to recreate a look from Blumarine’s line, and I found the perfect one in a flowy, floral, short sleeve dress. I was totally drawn to this look because of how delicate the floral pattern is. I feel like the white background on several Blumarine pieces made each garment a blank canvas for creativity and inspiration.

I started with my favorite floral dress. The variety of colors and flowers throughout made it both summery and feminine. The dreamy look was made simple with comfy Havaianas, delicate jewelry and Tory Burch sunnies. The T-shirt style dress was made girly with the bright colors and detail, while also bringing in the Blumarine element of playfulness in the shape.

And, for resort looks, never forget your tan!

Get My Look: 1. A floral sundress. 2. A pair of comfortable sandals. 3. Some delicate jewels to be dainty and sweet. 3. Some tortoise sunnies, great for any occasion.
