STYLE GURU STYLE: Faux Way

If you know me, you know I love me some fur. In the winter, fur is the best way to go if you want to stay super warm while staying super chic. However, real fur is way too expensive and also bad for the environment and for the poor animals. Pretty much every trendy brand sells faux fur, though, so it’s very easy to get your hands on.

For this outfit, I really wanted to play with textures and colors. I also wanted to wear something that was comfortable because my friends and I were exploring Beacon Hill—highly recommend, by the way! That being said, I stuck with a comfortable base—my favorite jeans by MOTHER and a T-shirt that I bought in the men’s section at Urban Outfitters. Buying shirts in the men’s section is actually one of my favorite tricks. In this case, I cut the shirt so it would hit at my waist and I trimmed the sleeves so that they weren’t too baggy. This shirt is also amazing because it has the cast of Clueless on it—as if!

I played with colors and textures by pairing fur with different kinds of leathers and I also did some mixing of metals. This faux fur jacket from Reformation (similar) is extra amazing because it is made from recycled fabrics. I thought the rich maroon would look good with navy blue so I paired my Phillip Lim bag with it, also adding some fun with texture. For shoes, I wore these amazing booties that are part patent leather and part matte leather. To finish it off, I layered some simple gold necklaces.

Stay warm this winter, Fashionistas!
