STYLE GURU STYLE: Falling For Red

“I only work in black or very, very dark gray.” This quote is from the Lego Movie but it perfectly describes my day to day look during the fall. One of my favorite parts about fall is finally being able to wear dark colors every day and have it be socially acceptable. Somehow, black just doesn’t feel like a summer color and while I love a floral or a pastel on a hot day, nothing beats a chill in the air and deep saturated colors! While I adore the sleekness of dark fall colors, I do like to add statement pop of color to add excitement to my otherwise dark outfits. As seen in Milan fashion week, red is an on trend color in fashion this year. Almost every look in Giorgio Armani’s 2016 resort collection featured a different shade of red. This is a very easy runway trend which anyone can feature in their everyday style.

For my Giorgio Armani-inspired look, I am sporting my current favorite dress. Although my style is more bohemian than the structured looks Armani features, I am still bringing in the red featured in the collection. This dress is a statement all by itself featuring a bold black and white pattern, with tassels and bronze button details added for interest. In order to keep this the focus of the outfit I kept the rest of the outfit simple by adding a simple pair of black tights to keep my legs warm and canvas gray ankle booties. To accessorize, I added a watch with a map of the world on the face and my Marist College emblem bracelet.

Get My Look: 1. Put on a red dress. 2. Add tights to keep warm. 3. Finish off the look with ankle boots and your favorite accessories. 4. Stay warm and fashionable!
