STYLE GURU STYLE: Dress Like A Queen

Congratulations to those who survived finals week. Finals week had me on a rollercoaster ride. It was bittersweet knowing that this will be my second to last final I ever take in college. I had many emotions and sleepless nights. I’m sure many of you Fashionistas can relate. Since I studied throughout the day and into the night, each day I sported leggings, hoodies and sneakers. Comfort was definitely the look I was going for.

Now that finals are over, I’m slowly easing into dressing up more. Looking at Alexander McQueen spring 2016 collection, I’ve been inspired to wear this simple outfit. The trend in Alexander McQueen’s outfits were monochrome with off-whites and lots of frills. Frills can be scary, but if worn in the right way it can be easy and fun to wear.

I’ve decided to recreate the style with more basic pieces for an everyday look that is comfortable. The top is a blend of black and creme with a clean frill bottom. It is a simple top with a touch of frill without having to be too daring. I know frills can be intimidating or overbearing for people. I paired it with black legging pants which are super comfortable and lace up boots that give it a little edge. I always like to add a little bit of twist or edge to my looks to make it more personal.

Those who want to try something different, definitely try a similar version of Alexander McQueen’s fashion. It’s simple and easy to recreate so that anyone can try it!
