STYLE GURU STYLE: Denim Prep

A piece of clothing that works any time of year would have to be the denim jacket. This classic and timeless garment can be used to add edge to any classic look. The denim jacket is versatile for any season, especially as the ultimate summer layering piece as seen on the Burberry Prorsum spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. The collection brings the British countryside alive in spring while idealizing the vision of an English summertime. Christopher Bailey usually loves to add loose and lightweight topcoats or jackets to his runway collections. In previous seasons he has reimagined the biker, the aviation jacket, the parka, the trench and this season the denim jacket; the forever-young wardrobe staple is bathed in good times and confidence. An adaptable piece like the denim jacket can be found in varying styles; some are cropped, while others are offered in a multitude of colors and washes. In Burberry Prorsum’s look one, some are lined with white ostrich feathers.

In an effort to translate this timeless runway trend into my look, I used a light wash denim jacket. Due to the versatility of the garment, I incorporated the denim jacket to create an edged up feel to my preppy outfit. Christopher Bailey debuted Burberry’s all-white style sneaker on the runway; in an effort to integrate sneakers into my look, I utilized a pair of summer Keds. I completed the preppy ensemble by including a spring and summer essential, a white dress, as my base and feminine component. The summer white bandeau dress paired with a neon pink belt offers a feminine silhouette and is completed with a statement necklace and kate spade scallop-edged tote.

Get My Look: 1. Denim jacket. 2. ASOS bandeau dress. 3. kate spade tote. 4. Keds sneakers.
