STYLE GURU STYLE: Crocheted Parade

When it comes to style, you can never go wrong with black. It’s a color that is slimming, sleek and goes with just about anything. I love wearing it because black’s so trendy—it’s basically every fashion blogger’s favorite color. While wearing all black is certainly trés chic, it’s important to spice up your look sometimes by incorporating accessories of different colors and textures.

Neutrals have become such a big part of this season’s trends. In the Bottega Veneta spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, designer Tomas Maier curated looks that create an earthy appeal. One thing that stood out to me the most about each look is the intricacy of the pieces. If the clothing itself didn’t appear too detailed, Maier added a jacket, belt or vest to add character.

My favorite pieces from this collection are the crocheted sweater cardigans. Taking inspiration from Tomas Maier, I added a long gray sweater vest to my otherwise heavily achromatic outfit, sticking to the same color schemes as the collection. There’s just something I adore about the look of crocheted pieces—they create such a soft, romantic tone that radiates warmth and good vibes. The Bottega Veneta spring 2015 collection features two long trench coats that are similar in length to my sweater vest. I aimed to keep the look unique and mysterious—my vest has three panels that blow in the wind with a mind of their own.

My outfit consists of a black off-the-shoulder blouse with crocheted detailing tucked into my trusty black mid-rise American Eagle jeggings. To include a minor pop of color, I added my gray sweater vest and white adidas sneakers. To go with my monochromatic theme, I sported my black Calvin Klein handbag. It’s the perfect day bag because it fits everything I need inside without being too heavy.

I love mixing silver and gold together, so when it comes to my jewelry, I tend to get a little crazy. You can never have too much fun with accessories! I did my makeup the same way I styled my outfit—minimalistic—however, I did use a bit of MAKE UP FOR EVER’s N9 Copper Pink lipstick.

Get My Look: 1. A black off-the-shoulder blouse. 2. A comfortable pair of black jeggings. 3. Signature adidas sneakers.
