STYLE GURU STYLE: Bomber Edge

It’s no secret that bomber jackets have been an ongoing trend both on the runway and off. What’s so great about this trend too is that it can be used year-round. However, this season’s bomber inspiration can be found in the Stella McCartney resort 2016 collection. In her collection, she featured many light, floral patterns along with a bomber style jacket creating the perfect mix between masculine and feminine. This look is a simple way to appear put together by adding an effortless touch to a minimal outfit.

When I wear a bomber, I try to make sure the jacket is the main focus of the outfit, which means that the rest of my outfit should stay simple. My advice is to stay within the same color spectrum of the jacketlike blacks or grays. In this outfit, I have on my super comfortable RSQ Ripped Jeans that I cuffed slightly, so I could show off my Steve Madden Ankle Booties. Since it is also slightly warmer now, I paired my bomber with a plain, black loose tank top.

If you’re looking to be more casual, I recommend adding a baseball cap—it’s both cute and keeps your face safe from the sun! Here, I added my Ivy Park baseball cap to really top off the complete look of the outfit. To tie back into Stella McCartney’s collection, I made sure to add some feminine jewelry to add that mix of masculine and feminine; I tend to dress a bit more masculine, so this was a good start for me! I can also admit that incorporating color into my daily style can be very challenging because I love my blacks and whites. The military green of the bomber is a really good transition for those who struggle with color in their outfits.

Stella McCartney’s biggest mission for her collection was to stay both effortless and chicI try to live by that statement, especially with the upcoming summer months. Her minimal pieces paired with something like a bomber jacket is a perfect example of that style. As Stella McCartney once said, “Being effortless is the coolest thing in the world.”
