STYLE GURU STYLE: Black On Black On Red

It’s amazing how as every season passes, Alexander Wang continues to outdo himself. His designs are always unique, mixing classic pieces with modern touches. His fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection was absolutely stunning. The designer used satin, velvet and leather to create different impressions of black on black. With the little color he used, he mixed sheer and shiny materials. I literally wanted every single piece on that runway!

Sometimes trying to find inspiration from runway shows can be a challenge. Designers have access to numerous things that we simply don’t have in our houses. However, if you use a little bit of creativity, you will see how far it can take you. Sometime all you need is in your closet and you don’t even know it. I have always loved the color black; people even make fun of me when I wear something colored, given how rare it is. As an avid follower of Wang, I knew I could find some inspiration to wear black in one of his shows. BINGO! I was right.

I was going to this alley way in Brazil, which is really famous for the graffiti on their walls, so I thought, the best way to stand out amongst all this colors would be to wear something that would contrast them: black! To go off of what Wang put on to the runway, I wore wide leg trousers in a shiny finish with a ribbed, long sleeve crop top. The different materials create a different impression of the color. Also, my pants had an asymmetric detail at the end of each leg, which added a cool touch to my overall look. Wide leg trousers are super in right now, as they help elongate the silhouette and look amazing on everyone. To add the cherry on top of my outfit, I chose a red bag, which made it pop. This look is a good option for a night out with friends, as it’s simple but at the same time, classy and beautiful!

Get My Look: 1. Wide leg trousers. 2. Ribbed crop top. 3. Colored cross-body.
