STYLE GURU STYLE: Black Is The New Black

Greetings Fashionistas! September brings nostalgic feelings about the conclusion of summer, the first sweet tastes of fall, New York Fashion Week and an 800-page issue of Vogue. Needless to say, there are style inspirations at every corner. As I mentioned before, my style revolves around a variety of things and I can’t define it in just one or two words. However, anyone who knows me knows that I can’t stray away from black. Some might even say I wear it too much (if there is such a thing). I am drawn to black pieces because they are clean, chic and great staple wardrobe items.

Due to my tall and slender figure, I love to wear midi dresses and skirts. Any excuse not to wear pants is great in my book. This pleated ASOS midi skirt is my favorite latest purchase. The pleats add texture and dimension to any ensemble. I find this especially important when piecing together monochromatic looks. You can dress up the skirt by wearing a skinny heel as pictured. The tied-up T-shirt is a stylish way to stay comfortable and leaves the skirt as the focal point. This is a look I might wear to brunch or a date night. For a more casual feel, you could throw on a graphic T-shirt, belt and boots. The final touch to my outfit is always a good lipstick because I do wear black often, I find that lipstick gives me that pop of color that I’m looking for.

As the fall approaches, I look forward to incorporating pops of mustard, maroon and hunter green into my looks. But as expected, I’ll continue my noir attire.
