STYLE GURU STYLE: Athleisure

The Rio Olympics is here and I couldn’t be any more lazier. Moving in to a new apartment and walking to go get my caramel macchiato is exercise though, right? With all these errands to fulfill, I decided to be both comfortable and stylish by donning a pair of joggers and looser clothing in general.

I was inspired by this look from the Rag & Bone 2017 resort collection. While I don’t think I could bear the summer heat in a heavy plaid sweater as featured in this collection, I did manage to pull off wearing a plaid Ralph Lauren button-up. I paired that top with a pair of dark navy H&M joggers. I really appreciate the pocket details on these pants. When you’re running errands like I am, you tend to just stuff receipts and cash in your pockets for easy access. It seems like most designers don’t think it’s necessary for women’s clothing to have pockets, but these are actually a major lifesaver!

To keep my outfit simple and free of distractions, I wore a black jersey headscarf. Jersey is not only movable but also breathable—a must have fabric for beating the summer heat. I kept the shoes simple as well. A pair of black Vans go with everything, and can be worn for many events, including running errands and for classes!

I finished the look by accessorizing with a pair of black sunglasses and a pair of neon yellow bracelets for a nice pop of color. I kept my makeup very simple, opting only for bronzer and light brown eyeshadow.

Get My Look: 1. A plaid boyfriend button-down. 2. A pair of light joggers. 3. Sunglasses. 4. A pair of Vans tennis shoes. 5. A neon bracelet.
