STYLE GURU STYLE: A Dose of Simplicity

Something that I pride myself on is that I have always marched to the beat of my own drum both in my personal life and with my personal style. I was that awkward kid in middle school who thought she looked totally rocker-chic by wearing different colored hair that attached to hair ties and clips. I rocked patterned ties as belts and was the victim of electric frosted blue eye shadow that went up to my brow bone. Luckily, those days are behind me and today I combine my love for the bold and eclectic with my style mantra of comfort and ease. I am constantly looking for inspiration on how to change up my look. 6397’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection got me ready for the chilly fall weather and inspired my wardrobe in ways I would not have thought possible.

What peaked my interest of the collection initially was how polar opposite it is to my everyday look. I like a lot of color and mixing different patterns together and 6397 embodied a minimalist and tomboy vibe while maintaining a certain badass femininity. The designer, Stella Ishii, was able to take basic pieces that some might consider boring and paired them in a way that looked different, cool and innovative. I personally loved the way she balanced the feminine with the masculine, specifically, with her dresses.

I drew the most inspiration from look 22 and look 24. I wanted to achieve a cohesive balance between the feminine and masculine style so I opted for a pair of jean capris that were on the looser side and wore a fitted neutral button-down cardigan. I chose a pair of brown Keds because they are simple and neutral, going along with the minimalist theme. As far as makeup goes, I kept it to a minimum by sticking to a fresh face and neutral lips. I did this to ensure that the main focus would be the outfit itself.

6397’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear-collection embodies a new wave of fashion that is cool, sleek, diverse and effortless. As fall progresses, I will absolutely be playing around with a similar look.

Get My Look: 1. A pair of loose and light washed jeans. 2. A neutral colored button-down cardigan. 3. A pair of comfortable sneakers.
