STYLE GURU STYLE: ’90s Comeback

With the vintage vibe that has been around for quite a while, it is not a surprise that fashion is having a ‘90s comeback. What was considered old-fashioned and passé are now appearing everywhere, whether it’s on the catwalk, on the streets, or in stores. Grunge makes its return in the fashion scene with the mix of minimalism, making it a little easier to pull off on the streets and to look chic effortlessly. With some of the key items—chokers, mom jeans, and bomber jackets—the ‘90s look can be easily incorporated into your daily look.

If you were to ask me, “what is your favorite ‘90s trend that you can wear on a daily basis and in multiple ways,” my instinctive response would be the chokers. Chokers have been making a grand comeback in various forms. What was once just a black plastic necklace that fits closely around the neck has made its transformation in multiple forms—velvet, metal, bandana, lace, suede, draped, with beads, and many more. In this outfit, I am wearing a simple black tattoo choker just to add a little edge without attracting too much attention from the whole look.

I am also wearing a pair of denim blue mom jeans, which has become my go-to jeans besides the staple black jeans. They are super comfortable and easy to style with. The high-waist design helps elongate the legs. And the polished thick cuffed ankles add another trendy element to the whole look. Bomber jackets, as I mentioned in my previous article, are a personal favorite and can be dressed in many ways. This light pink satin bomber jacket is very lightweight, which makes it perfect for the warm and sunny days and the upcoming spring season.

The ‘90s comeback has been around for a while and is definitely fun to style around with. Some other elements that can easily be worn on a daily basis are berry lips, Doc Martens, leather biker jacket, and flannels. So the next time you’re styling an outfit, try looking into your mom’s closet for some hidden treasure!
