Hello fellow Fashionistas/os! I will be returning to College Fashionista as a Style Guru intern this fall as I enter the Toronto Film School for a diploma in Marketing in Fashion and Entertainment.
I am often asked, “Why are you so dressed up today?” whenever I go out with my friends. I describe my style as classy with a flare. I also like to dress in simple solid colors; this allows me to have multiple basic pieces in my closet so that I can mix and match to create multiple outfits.
In this outfit, I am wearing a pale pink dress with a v-neck. A fitted V-neck dress is also a great way to show of your body as it creates shape in the bottom and helps to show off your top. I am wearing a bralette underneath my dress because I found the V-neck to be a little bit too low. A bralette is a perfect and pretty way to give you a little bit of extra coverage! The dress that I am wearing also has a small cap sleeve that creates a slimming effect on my arms.
I always believe in accessorizing properly. I wore one large statement necklace to stand out against my simple dress. A V-neck is a great piece to wear a large necklace with, since it is able to frame the necklace against your skin. I chose a necklace with a little bit of blue tones in it to contrast against the pale pink. It also adds a little bit of a flare that makes your outfit slightly more edgy.
I finished this outfit off with a cute pair of leather booties with a nice heel. I always believe in versatility with my outfits, so when choosing the perfect pair of booties I opted for a pair in black. A black leather heel can go with almost any outfit and the darker color gives my sweet and simple dress more edge. I also went for a pair that had a zipper on the side. Not only is this an extra cute detail, I always find boots with a zipper are more functional than ones that you slide on. The zipper adds extra security, so you will not be walking out of your boots (especially in a heel!) and makes it easier to put them on.
I believe that the key to a well stocked closet are basics and fun accessories! The most important thing for a well stocked closet is to make sure that the pieces you are picking and the way that you are matching them, are 100 percent you.
