STYLE GURU BIO: Sydney Vacca

Hey fashionable people! My name is Sydney, and I grew up in a tiny town called Littleton, Massachusetts. Ever since I can remember, I have always been known as the “mess-maker” of my family. While my younger brother was content to watch television or play outside, I was always known to leave disastrous messes in my wake. I was continuously creating something, whether I was cooking, crafting or redecorating.

It wasn’t until middle school that my creative eye shifted to fashion. I attended a fashion camp over the summer, where I learned to use a sewing machine and I made garments that I actually wore. The camp’s director was extremely passionate and emphasized recycling garments to give them an entirely new life. Aside from giving my style a vintage flare, her enthusiasm left me wanting to study fashion.

Luckily, I am able to do exactly that at Marist College in New York!

I fell in love with Marist College from the moment I drove through the stone gateway and looked out at the beautiful Hudson River. This coming year I am going to be a junior at Marist. I am majoring in marketing and minoring in fashion merchandising. I am so happy to be a red fox and to call New York my new home! To this day, I still find myself engulfed in creative projects that consume entire tables and shopping bags full of materials. Though I have officially diagnosed myself with a shopping addiction, I like to think that through my love of basics and neutrals I am able to get multiple looks out of my garments and make my old camp director proud!

This look showcases my love for basics. I am wearing a simple striped T-shirt dress and my new favorite brown and gold flats. I love wearing T-shirt dresses in the summer because they are so easy to throw on and accessorize with necklaces, bags, jackets and more! With my dress, I paired a brown cross-body bag and some large sunglasses. In this look, I am ready for any summer day!
