STYLE GURU BIO: Sophia Benoit

Hello fellow Fashionistas and Fashionistos!

I am thrilled to be starting my first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. I am currently a freshman at Washington and Lee University in the beautiful town of Lexington, Virginia, where I am a member of the swim team.

Washington and Lee is such a unique place; although it is a small university with a student body of 1800, there is truly such a distinct sense of style. Although the campus is dominated by a strong Southern influence of preppy elegance, each student has his or her own take on this classic sense of style.

Needless to say, I am very excited to feature our campus’ many trendsetters and shine a spotlight on this wonderful place I am lucky enough to call home for the next four years.

Fashion has always been a passion of mine. As a quiet and introverted person, I have always viewed my sense of style as not only a form of artistic expression, but also as an expression of my personality.

I love anything leopard print (it can be tasteful!) and I count Olivia Palermo and Lauren Conrad among my street-style influences. I would describe my style as classic with a twist. I love taking classic staple pieces and adding a bold twist whether with unique textures, patterns or colors. One of my favorite ways to add dimension to any look is throwing on a pair of printed tights. I am not afraid to mix patterns or textures to take fashion risks, but I never leave the house without my rings—two simple bands, an infinity ring and a family heirloom. They add a personal touch to whatever I choose to wear.

My favorite fashion quote ever may be this statement from Edith Head: “You can have anything you want if you dress for it.” I am so looking forward to helping all of my fellow Fashionistas and Fashionistos look fabulous while achieving their goals!
