STYLE GURU BIO: Shayna Fairclough

Hey Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Shayna Fairclough. I am a senior, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising and management with two minors in math and english, at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I am so excited to be a part of CollegeFashionista this semester and even more excited to be graduating from college in the spring! I am still not sure what I want to do in the fashion industry, though I have interned and worked in various fields including styling, corporate, tutoring, and retail.

I did not realize my love of fashion until I started applying for college. In high school I was into sports, specifically track and field, and academics. While I did enjoy shopping and styling my friends, it never occurred to me to make fashion my career choice. As graduation approached I finally decided the only thing I loved to do besides running and getting good grades was anything related to fashion. The Fashion Institute of Technology ended up being the only school I applied to (still thankful I got in) because I knew in my heart that it was the only school I wanted to attend.

If I had to describe my style I would say it is quite random. When shopping I buy anything that catches my eye, even if I know I have nothing in my closet to wear with it. In this case I am always mixing and matching styles. From street wear and preppy to girly and tomboy, I wear it all.  My favorite style would have to be sporty and not because I am an athlete but because I love sneakers, if I could wear them every day I would.

This season I am really into oversized pieces, so for my look I wore an oversized cropped hoodie with extreme sleeves and paired it with a faux leather skirt to add some texture. Both items were from Missguided. My suede pointed booties are from Aldo. I believe boots like these are a necessity to any closet. In the fall, silver accents are my go-to, hence the chain on my black Alexander Wang envelope bag and my rings from Aldo (they were on sale!), and my Casio watch from ASOS.

Thanks for reading about my personal style! For updates on my posts and my life in general follow me on social media and please do not be shy. I would love to connect and chat with you all!
