STYLE GURU BIO: Sarah Brovelli

Hello friends! My name is Sarah Brovelli and I am a (gulp) senior at the University of Oregon double majoring in both International Business and Spanish. From ice-cream flavors to majors, I am a terrible decision maker. It may have taken me three years to figure it out, but I am so glad to finally be studying material I love in a career path that excites me. This is my first semester as a Style Guru, and I am pumped to start this virtual adventure with you!

My style story starts like most little girls, with playing dress up. However, my mom was the real person who kickstarted my style when she refused to let me have a Juicy Couture track suit in the sixth grade even though all my friends had them. She told me that what I wear should be about me, not about blending into the sea of velour and terry cloth around me. So while Sarah circa 2006 pouted, she was also forced to become more individual, accept that her mom is usually right and over time become more proud of how she presented myself. I began wearing clothes that excited me to greet the day, that were creative, and that made me feel more confident in myself. I have never looked back.

My style changes constantly, but could be summed up as feminine and colorful with a splash of edge. I may never wear a bow in my hair, but I will also never say no to floral print dresses or a killer pair of heels. “More is more” is a phrase my lips use often, but limited closet space during study abroad has forced minimalism on me. I got back to U.S. soil on May 20th, 2015 after five months abroad in Sevilla, Spain; I swear I can still taste the sangria. Observing trends and fashion in Spain and throughout Europe taught and inspired me a lot, and I can’t wait to share some of my favorite cobble stone street-style memories with all of you.

In my posts you will always find: statement pieces, boho vibes, manicured nails, an unhealthy love of makeup and a healthy love for big smiles and sale sections. In my Style Guru Bio you can see me comfy in an all white and blue ensemble: a classic denim jacket, trendy blue fringe purse, and a boyfriend-esk pair of white ripped jeans. The Superga shoes give the look a European feel, and remind me of my days abroad.

My mantra: Never buy something unless you really love it, ice-cream is the answer and always listen your mother.
