STYLE GURU BIO: Sami Helgeson

I’m Sami: lover of lace (as seen in this Free People dress), walking barefoot, soy lattes and adventures. I would call my style eclectic and risky. I love throwing pieces together that you would not think would work. My style is usually pretty carefree and light, but I am definitely not afraid to take chances with some bold pieces. I love wearing airy dresses and making making them work year-round with tights and cute cardigans. But who doesn’t love a good boyfriend jean, too? There are just so many cute clothes to choose from; I never can make up my mind! Some days I look like a hippie, other days I look pristine and polished. That is what I love about fashion and style—it never has to be the same! You have permission to dress how you are feeling that day and no one has the right to tell you not to. So I encourage you to wear whatever you feel like wearing and feel confident because you look great!

Besides fashion, I also love animals, music and traveling. I love to volunteer and I spend my free time eating Indian food and watching crime shows. I spent my Junior year of high school as a foreign exchange student in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. My year spent as an exchange student in Indonesia has greatly influenced me in many ways, including my style! My year in Indonesia has given me the confidence to rock anything I like. I was born and raised in Wisconsin, but seeking adventure and new opportunities, I have decided to study in Colorado. I attend the University of Denver where I am double-majoring Environmental Science and International Relations. I would like to study abroad during my time in college and I would love to work with the Peace Corps after graduation.
