STYLE GURU BIO: Rodrea Mackey

Hello CollegeFashionista! My name is Rodrea Mackey, I am from New Orleans, Louisiana, and I am a junior at Nicholls State University. My major is in psychology and my minor is in business administration. I want to become either an industrial and organizational psychologist or a counseling psychologist, but who says you can’t love fashion too! I recognized CollegeFashionista after reading an issue of my Seventeen Magazine and I applied to be an intern. I am very excited to be a Style Guru and photograph how students down in the bayou dress stylishly.

Like most students I am still trying to find my niche for my career, but I have always known I have a passion for fashion. Ever since my childhood collecting Bratz dolls, I knew fashion was up my alley. As I matured, I became more interested in fashion by reading fashion magazines, watching television shows like Fashion Police, Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars, etc. Above all, the movie The Devil Wears Prada inspired me to take fashion more seriously.

I am most comfortable wearing jeans and a T-shirt, but every now and then I wear bodycon skirts, leggings and button-downs. Often, I wear my Warriors in Pink scarf as a hair bow in support of breast cancer and for a bad hair day. My biggest obsession is makeup, as well as, accessories and clothes. Just about every year I become obsessed with a specific style and color. This year I’m gawking over the bohemian style, like prints and fringe, and wine colors, burgundy in particular.

I hope to inspire others as I have been inspired in fashion. Cheers to a rad semester and don’t forget to #RAD the posts you like!
