Hello fellow Fashionistas/os! My name is Rachel Porter, and I’m a junior at Temple University. My major is journalism and my dream is to write for a top magazine after graduating. This is my first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista and already I’m eager for what’s to come.
I’ve been writing since I was a kid and being at Temple helped me gain so much for my passion. Whenever I’m not writing something up on my laptop, I’m exploring Philadelphia with my friends. I like to take my camera with me and photograph the interesting scenery and art I notice. I also enjoy having some alone time, which includes listening to my music and drawing.
Black and blue are my favorite colors and consist of the majority of my wardrobe. Specifically during this time of year, I love going out in my leather jacket, light blue jeans, black combat boots, and my Michael Kors satchel bag. My friends playfully joke with me about my “edgy” look but I embrace it by continuing to wear outfits similar to the style.
I used to be a total tomboy, but as I got older I started to have more of an interest in my appearance while figuring out the type of look I have. The colors blue, black, green, and gray are my ideal colors because they complement me and it’s easy finding accessories to go with them.
What I love about fashion is the diverse taste. Every year there’s a different style, but not everyone has to wear what’s new and they can wear what appeals to them. It’s also cool to check out the unique styles people have to offer and the story behind why they wear what they wear.
