STYLE GURU BIO: Rachel Miller

What’s up, Fashionistas! My name is Rachel Miller, and I am a freshman at Oneonta State! I’m a fashion merchandising major with a business management concentration. I am currently studying in a 3-1 cooperative program with FIT (first three years at Oneonta, senior year at FIT), that allows me to graduate in four years with two degrees (bachelors from Oneonta and associates from FIT). This is my first semester interning for CollegeFashionista, and I am so thrilled to see what will come next!

I’ve had my mind set on fashion since I was about eight years old. I took fashion classes all four years of high school and knew right off the bat I wanted to pursue it in college. I interned at a local tailor shop for two years, and although I absolutely loved sewing and designing, the business side of the industry has my heart. I have a growing interest in the fashion industry and am so grateful that this internship is giving me the amazing opportunity to combine my passion for fashion with my interest in writing!

Personal style is so unique and makes fashion so much more fun. To me, it’s a telltale sign of a person’s attitude, confidence, and personality. My motto is, “Look good, feel good.” When I’m wearing a dress and heels, I 100 percent feel better about myself than I would wearing sweats and a T-shirt. This leads into my next point: self-expression is most easily conveyed through the art of dress. Fashion trends come and go, but personal style evolves with them. Although my daily style fluctuates depending on my mood, I have always loved styling new outfits since I was a little girl. In this outfit, I am wearing a suede chestnut coat lined with faux fur, a valor V-neck long sleeve underneath, dark wash ripped jeans, and Franco Sarto black heeled boots. The outfit is completed with a gold drop chain necklace and a couple of my favorite rings.

More articles to come, so stay tuned throughout the semester and happy writing!
