STYLE GURU BIO: Rachael Roykovich

Well, hey there Fashionistas/os! My name is Rachael Roykovich, and I am a returning Style Guru. I am just beginning my senior year (eek) of college at East Carolina University studying Fashion Merchandising and Communications. You can probably find me on campus jamming out to Taylor Swift while dancing my way to class! And if I have class in the morning, you can most definitely count on me having a coffee in my hand!

Plants, food, books, tea, knitting, music and Harry Potter all hold a place in my big heart well of course other than clothes (but I do have two closets for that too). There is no hiding my nerd status, and I am not afraid to admit it online for everyone to read either. My exciting days are usually spent exploring new coffee shops as well as venturing to new places. Travel has become quite the love affair in my life. Who has time for men when there is a whole world out there to discover (filled with such good food)? I guess you could say that I am a bit of a foodie. I am a vegetarian and love eating healthy and thoroughly enjoy shopping for my food at the local farmers markets! And then of course, I take a picture of it for Instagram or Snapchat!

When my hopes and dreams were crushed and I finally had to realize that I wasn’t jumping aboard the Hogwarts Express and becoming a wizard when I grew up, I chose something just as magical to study. Fashion has the power be used as a tool of representation of self. Clothing is used to reflect the way someone feels about themselves. That creative outlet of self expression is endlessly fascinating to me!

Fashion and photography will always be apart of my life. Fashion is just so engrained in who I am and the freedom of expression is something I never want to let go of. When entering the scary real world, I want to help others be confident in expressing who they are. Let fashion and photography communicate the change of the status quo!

My personal style really doesn’t just have one label! I wear a lot of boho-chic ensembles as well as skater vibes. But sometimes I want to get all fancy and wear a tutu skirt while dreaming about being in Paris! One thing that any great outfit needs is a RAD lipstick to make it pop. Style is about knowing yourself and not being afraid of being different. I’m a firm believer of being weird and unique, stand away from the crowd!

I’m super excited to be back as a Style Guru and keeping you up to date on the hottest trends. Lots of sassy articles, weird style and good ol’ fun to come! So, cheers to another great semester!
