Hey there, fellow fashion enthusiasts! My name is Rachael Mayrose and I am ecstatic to be a part of the CollegeFashionista team. I am a rising sophomore at Villanova University, pursuing a double major in Marketing and Economics with minors in Italian and Journalism. This is my first year as a Style Guru and I can’t wait to share my fashion discoveries with all of you.

I have been infatuated with the world of fashion since I was a little girl, but it wasn’t until my early teenage years that I realized fashion was more than just playing dress-up. On a long plane ride to California, I decide to watch some television to pass the time. As I was browsing the channels, I happened upon a show that would change my life, Project Runway. The outfits created by the designers on the show were more than clothes, they were works of art. I realized how powerful fashion could be and decided I would be a part of that world, no matter what.

My style has evolved quite a lot since junior high school, for which I am quite thankful. For example, my go to item as a 13-year-old was a pair of knitted, hot pink UGGs. In my defense, I rocked those boots like they were a pair of Jimmy Choos. Today, my style is what I call “urban-chic”, a cross between the styles found on the streets of Manhattan and on the runways of high end fashion shows.

When styling an outfit, I begin with a classic piece and then glam it up with accessories. With the outfit I am wearing, I started with a simple black romper. Then, I added bold gold earrings and gold rimmed aviators to draw attention to the romper’s zipper detailing. Lastly, I added an oversized, two-toned tote by one of my favorite designers, Michael Kors, to add a pop of color.

When I’m not flipping through fashion magazines or stalking celebrity styles on the internet I am most likely reading a book, hanging out with my friends, running or enjoying beautiful Long Island, the home I took for granted. Although I have yet to travel outside of the United States, I am fascinated by other cultures and have a genuine love of knowledge.

I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit about me and I can’t wait to share my fashion journey with all of you. Now, go out into the world and be fierce!
