STYLE GURU BIO: Olivia Poletti

Hello! My name is Olivia Poletti and this is my second semester writing for CollegeFashionista. I am from San Francisco and I am a sophomore pursuing degrees in marketing and psychology at Tulane University in New Orleans. I’m very excited to be back this semester writing about something I am so passionate about and to see what trends are in store for the spring!

Like many, I jump back and forth between different styles and my closet cannot be defined by one word. Depending on my mood, I could be dressed like Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s or Penny Lane from Almost Famous. I think part of what makes fashion so interesting is its ever-changing nature. What was deemed stylish a year ago can be considered outdated now but all of a sudden reappear years later and be stylish again, much like what has happened with the ’90s trend.

A lot of my style inspiration comes from street style shots and bloggers. My favorites are Charly Cox and Julia Engel from Gal Meets Glam. Although I don’t always dress according to one style, I have essentials in my closet that are versatile enough for many different looks. As cliché as it is, I keep a lot of black in my wardrobe because the color will never go out of style and goes with almost everything. I also have a variety of denim, like these ripped knee black jeans, because they can be dressed up or down for different looks.

At the moment, I have been loving faux fur, but since I don’t live in very cold climates I can’t throw on a fur coat. This faux shearling denim jacket is a great compromise so I can still get the look I want and it also adds a ’70s flair that I love to the outfit. The black booties I’m wearing are quite possibly my favorite shoes ever. With just the right amount of heel, these booties can be worn day and night and pair well with almost any outfit.
