STYLE GURU BIO: Olivia Chiappa

Hello everyone! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Olivia Chiappa. I am a freshman at Montclair State University in New Jersey, studying fashion, and working towards my goal career to become a fashion director. I am honored to be a part of the CollegeFashionista team and excited to grow as a fashion major throughout this school semester and internship. This journey will not be easy, but I feel that a challenge with help me prepare myself for this hectic industry of fashion.

Ever since I was small, my parents taught me the importance of always dressing appropriately, which is how I believe the way I fell in love with fashion. Going to the shopping centers with my father when I was a little girl, he showed me which patterns work together, what shoes to wear to each occasion and, of course, season. Since then, I always had an eye for fashion and strived on being well dressed. After graduating high school, it was a no-brainer on what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Fashion feels like the only subject that comes completely natural to me, and doesn’t feel like I am working at all. That, to me, felt like the right fit and where I needed to be.

For this look, I am wearing a basic white sweater and jeans. I believe the best outfit combination in the winter months, is a sweater and jeans. Even though it is on the basic side, there are countless ways to make it more interesting and eye catching. The white sweater has texture to it, and the denim jeans are two toned wash and have a mom-jean fit to them. Also the denim at the bottom has a frayed hem that I made myself to give it more of an edge. I paired this outfit with an ankle length navy blue trench coat, cheetah print Chelsea rain boots, a velvet black choker, and blue aviator sunglasses. It all starts with the basics, I believe it’s a blank canvas to pair whatever you want and have fun with.
