STYLE GURU BIO: Nina Gamgort

Hi Fashionistas/os! I am so excited to join the college fashionista team. I am a current rising senior at Marist College majoring in marketing with a minor in fashion merchandising. I am consistently fascinated by trends in the fashion and beauty worlds. These passions have led me to an interest in the editorial side of fashion and beauty. I just completed a summer internship in the beauty department at Cosmopolitan and Seventeen magazines. During this time, I was exposed to many of the incredible aspects of both fashion and beauty.

I am so intrigued by trends; therefore, they have a large impact on my style. I like to keep up on the latest styles, and try new looks to match what I see on the runway, in magazines or even on the street. Fashion is a statement of how you choose to represent yourself. I match my outfits to my mood. If I am feeling excited and energetic, I will put on a bright colored romper, as apposed to if I am feeling tranquil and relaxed. In that case, I will put on a gray T-shirt dress and a headband. I would describe my personal style as a combination of girly and boho-chic. I do most of my shopping at Urban Outfitters, American Apparel and my favorite small town boutiques.

Some of my favorite designers include kate spade, Collina Strada and Anna Sui. I appreciate color and detail and see fashion as a form of expression, whether it is designing, styling or merchandising. I have worked very closely to my school’s fashion show, and learned a lot about all of the creativity and endless hours of work that go into creating a garment or a collection. I have also developed a love for the runway and broadened my understanding of the importance of production and presentation in the fashion world.

In this outfit, I am wearing a long sleeve white lace dress, with trumpet sleeves and flower detail. I paired this dress with a pair of chestnut brown gladiator sandals. This is the perfect combination for a summer evening in New York. In order to avoid frizzy hair from the humidity, I put my hair in my favorite style, which is a half-up, half-down high ponytail. It keeps my hair out of my face while adding some unique style to the look. I am so excited to see all of your trends on campus this semester and then to share my observations!
